Enway

Enway is a Berlin-based deep tech company founded in 2017 by Bo Chen, Julian Nordt, and Thanuja Ambegoda that develops software and technology for autonomous industrial and municipal vehicles, with a primary focus on self-driving street sweepers. The company built a technology platform for high-precision autonomous machines that enables sweepers to clean streets, factories, and large warehouses independently, reacting dynamically to changes and obstacles in their environment. In September 2022, Enway was acquired by Bucher Municipal, one of the largest municipal sweeping manufacturers worldwide, and now operates as a subsidiary under the name "ENWAY a Bucher Company." Together they are working towards fully autonomous sweeping vehicles, integrating Enway's autonomous driving software into Bucher Municipal's existing commercial sweeping machines. Prior to the acquisition, Enway received venture capital from investors including Atlantic.vc and Redalpine, and was funded by the State of Berlin through the Pro FIT innovation programme supported by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). The company achieved a significant milestone when its autonomous sweeper received approval for public road use in Singapore, making it one of the first deployments of driverless cleaning vehicles in a real urban environment. In Germany, Enway conducted the first autonomous inner-city cleaning operation in Darmstadt. The company has offices in Berlin and Singapore with approximately 35 employees. Enway's technology combines expertise in robotics, machine learning, computer vision, and artificial intelligence with real-world deployment experience, representing a practical application of autonomous driving technology to urban maintenance for more efficient, quieter, and environmentally friendly city cleaning operations.
