The European Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW) stands as Europe's largest annual gathering dedicated to renewable energy and energy efficiency. Launched in 2007 by the European Commission, the event has evolved into a cornerstone of the continent's clean energy movement, now preparing for its 20th edition in 2026.
EUSEW brings together over 10,000 participants spanning policymakers, industry representatives, businesses, civil society organisations, and citizens. The event serves as a critical platform for dialogue on EU energy policies, particularly the REPowerEU plan aimed at enhancing Europe's energy independence and security.
The 2026 edition, themed "A clean, secure and competitive Energy Union," will operate in hybrid format, enabling both in-person and online participation. The central Policy Conference features dynamic sessions organised by the European Commission and energy stakeholders, focusing on clean energy innovations, policy developments, and best practices. Beyond policy discussions, the programme includes the Energy Fair—showcasing approximately 30 innovative projects and technologies—and the EUSEW Awards, which recognise outstanding individuals and initiatives advancing Europe's energy transition.
Additional components include the European Youth Energy Day, engaging participants aged 18-35 in strategic dialogue, and Sustainable Energy Days—globally hosted events running from March through June that promote clean energy awareness and inspire behavioural change at community level.
The event is organised by the European Commission's Directorate-General for Energy in close partnership with the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA). EUSEW provides attendees with networking opportunities, policy insights, and platforms to showcase contributions to Europe's clean energy goals.
